La 1.  parte desarrolla aspectos tales como la aparicion e insercion de las gargolas en la historia del arte y de la arquitectura o los sistemas de desagues que, segun las epocas y las necesidades de los edificios, condicionaron la existencia y el uso de las gargolas. La 2. Parte presenta un analisis de los motivos y temas iconograficos que han podido leerse individualmente en cada una de las gargolas, siempre teniendo en cuenta las diversas condiciones historicas que las afectaron pues son obras fruto del periodo de tiempo comprendido entre finales del s. Xiii y muy avanzado el s. Xx. El catalogo esta integrado por 1191 fichas y cada ficha aporta una fotografia de la gargola, localizacion, epoca, estilo, autor, material, estado de conservacion, analisis de los elementos
