Por una parte entender, desde la perspectiva actual, el grupo de renormalizacion, y por otra desarrollar diferentes tecnicas, la mayor parte de ellas numericas, que hacen posible extraer resultados practicos.  en la primera parte, que comprende los capitulos 2, 3 y 4, se revisan las ideas del grupo de renormalizacion, poniendo ejemplos la mayor parte de ellos originales.  en la segunda parte, que comprende los capitulos 5 en adelante, se encuentran los resultados nuevos. Primero se analiza el tipo de transformaciones mas general que se pueden considerar, y se aplican a puntos fijos gausianos.  luego se considera la teoria escalar, tanto desde una regularizacion de la red, donde se aplican transformaciones en espacio real y de momentos, como en el marco de las ecuaciones diferenciales. Como ejemplo de modelo mas complejo, se aplican las ideas del grupo de renormalizacion a modelos de superficies y se obtienen resultados muy precisos pero con un coste en tiempo de calculo mucho menor.
