Knaus en 1985. En a\u00f1os recientes, se ha estudiado la signficacion de la colesterolemia reducida en determinadas patolog\u00edas de pacientes criticos, como politraumatizados, septicos o quirurgicos, asi como su posible valor pronostico por si misma o bien a\u00f1adiendola al apache ii para ver si aumentaba su valor predictivo, siendo los resultados dispares.  hemos estudiado a 106 pacientescriticos, ingresados en una uci polivalente, durante un periodo de 3 a\u00f1os consecutivos. Para incluirse en el estudio se requeria al menos una semana de estancia en uci, y la necesidad de soporte nutricional parenteral, enteral o mixto.  los objetivos eran: comprobar si la colesterolemia en la 1 semana de estancia en uci de forma aislada se relacionaba con la mortalidad; comparar los niveles de colesterol semanales con otros parametros nutricionales clasicos, bioquimicos fundamentalmente; comparar el valor predictivo del colesterol en la 1 semana de estancia en uci, al relacionarlo con el apache ii en las primeras 24 h de estancia en uci; averiguar si existe una curva o tendencia, formada por la secuencia de valores semanales de colesterol desde el ingreso en uci, que tenga valor predictivo.  en la valoracion bivariante de todas las variables cuantitativas analizadas, solamente eran utiles como indices predictivos de mortalidad el apache ii en las primeras 24 h. Y el colesterol durante la 1 semana de estancia en uci. En el modelo definitivo, realizado mediante analisis de regresion logistica, las 5 variables predictoras que destacaron fueron: puntuacion apache ii en las primeras 24 horas, nivel de colesterol serico en la 1 semana de 120 mg\/dl, nivel umbral de colesterol de 110 mg\/dl entre la 2 y la 4 semanas, tendencia de la curva semanal de colesterol decreciente<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
