La hipotesis de trabajo esta basada en el conocimiento del modo de accion de la clase de fungicidas conocida como inhibidores de la biosintesis del ergosterol. El objetivo de este trabajo se centro, por tanto, en la preparacion de compuestos con esqueletos de cariofilano, clovano y 1alfah,9alfah probotriano, que presentan una estructura semejante a la de los intermedios metabolicos en la biosintesis de botridial, procediendose posteriormente a evaluar su actividad contra b.Cinerea.  en cumplimiento de estos objetivos, se puso a punto un metodo de sintesis de derivados de cariofileno y clovano, empleando tetracianoetileno como catalizador. Tras la sintesis de epoxidos cariofilenicos empleando el sistema de reactivos t- buooh\/vo(acac)2, se demostro la necesidad de un analisis conformacional para explicar el curso estereoquimico de la reaccion. Tras mejorar la preparacion de 1alfah,9alfah probotri- 2-eno a partir de isocariofileno, se preparo una serie de derivados que, al igual que los derivados cariofilenicos y clovanicos anteriormente sintetizados, fue objeto de ensayos de inhibicion del crecimiento de b.Cinerea. Como consecuencia de estos bioensayos, se observo que los derivados clovanicos eran los compuestos preparados que presentaban una mayor actividad. Ademas, las biotransformaciones realizadas sobre varios clovano derivados permiten proponer un mecanismo de inhibicion alternativo a la inhibicion de la biosintesis de
