La expresion de las isoformas de cd43 permite discriminar subpoblaciones de celulas nk. La isoforma hexasacarida se expresa en la subpoblacion cd56 debil, mientras que la isoforma tetrasacartida se expresa en la subpoblacion cd56 brillante.  2. La expresion de cd43 en celulas nk no se altera tras la activacion de pkc. La estimulacion a traves de cd43 induce una rapida perdida de expresion de esta molecula en celulas nk, debido a un proceso mediado por metaloproteasas.  3. La estimulacion de celulas nk via cd43 disminuye la expresion de cd16 por un mecanimso independiente de inhibidores de metalo- o serina-proteasas.  4. Los anticuerpos monoclonales l10, b1b6 y mem-59 son capaces de inducir por si solos la proliferacion de celulas nk purificadas, aumentan su capacidad citotoxica frente a la diana sensible k562 y no inducen lisis redirigida frente a la diana nk-resistente p815.  5. La estimulacion via cd43 induce la expresion de antigenos de activacion en celulas nk. Elentrecruzamiento de los anticuerpos l10 y mem-59 induce la expresion de hla-dr, mientras que el anticuerpo mem-59 induce tambien la expresion de cd25 y cd69. En la transmision de se\u00f1ales asociadas a cd43 no esta implicada la protein quinasa p561ck.  6. La activacion de la via de cd43 en celulas nk modifica el estado de fosforilacion de sustratos especificos. Asi, los anticuerpos l10 y mem-59 producen la fosforilacion en residuos de tirosina de una proteina de unos 20-22 kda, que no es la cadena zeta.
