Se le han asignado funciones en la modulacion de la division celular y en la defensa frente al estres por compuestos oxidantes.  el objetivo de esta tesis doctoral fue analizar y caracterizar a la estabilizacion de ascorbato como un proceso asociado al sistema redox de la membrana plasmatica, en celulas de la levadura saccharomyces cerevisiae.  los datos obtenidos confirmaron este objetivo e indicaron que la actividad esta parcialmente regulada por el contenido de coq6 en la membrana plasmatica, debiendose a la accion de un complejo enzimatico de la membrana plasmatica que cataliza la reaccion nadh-afr reductasa, en el que participa el coq6 y una forma de citocromo b5 reductasa de la membrana plasmatica.
