Para ello se han sintetizado en primer lugar 4 aminoalcoholes diferentes, presentando todos ellos en comun un resto gem-dimetilciclobutilo y diferenciandose en la distancia entre los grupos hidroxilo y amino de las posiciones 1 y 3 del ciclobutano. La preparacion de estos compuestos se llevo a cabo a traves de alternativas sinteticas diferentes, a partir de un precursor proquiral comun, el (1r,cis)-acido 3-acetil-2,2-dimetilciclobutilacetico (acido pinonico) facilmente disponible a partir del (1s)-(-)alfa-pineno, producto natural muy asequible, lo que implica la utilizacion alternativa de procesos de degradacion, reduccion, proteccion y desproteccion de diferentes grupos funcionales. La preparacion de los analogos de nucleosidos requiere la creacion sobre el resto de amina de las bases puricas naturales o modificadas, mediante el empleo de estrategias sinteticas de tipo divergente.
