Sin embargo, el que sea posible el uso extendido de estos materiales en aplicaciones que impliquen ciclos de transferencia de calor, hace necesaria la mejora de su resitencia al choque t\u00e9rmico.  en esta tesis se investiga la posibilidad de aumentar la resistencia al choque t\u00e9rmico de los materiales de al\u00famina, sin que este aumento vaya en detrimento de las propiedades estructurales de esta \u00faltima, mediante la adici\u00f3n de peque\u00f1as cantidades de una segunda fase.  se ha puesto a punto el m\u00e9todo de obtenci\u00f3n de materiales compuestos de al\u00famina con 5 y 10% vol., De titanato de aluminio y se ha puesto a punto un m\u00e9todo de ensayo de resistencia al choque t\u00e9rmico consistente en el enfriamiento brusco en glicerina de probetas indentadas. Este m\u00e9todo ha resultado ser sensible a las diferencias de comportamiento de los materiales desarrollados. Se ha caracterizado la resisitencia al choque t\u00e9rmico de los materiales compuestos y del material de al\u00famina de referencia y se han analizado los resultados de los ensayos de choque t\u00e9rmico en funci\u00f3n de las predicciones te\u00f3ricas basadas en las propiedades t\u00e9rmicas y mec\u00e1nicas de los materiales.  se han obtenido dos materiales compuestos de al\u00famina con 5 y 10% en volumen de titanato de aluminio con resistencia al choque t\u00e9rmico, en t\u00e9rminos de atc, un 30% superior a la del material de al\u00famina de referencia. Estos materiales mantienen el resto de las propiedades estructurales de los materiales de al\u00famina, ya que presentan los mismos valores de tensi\u00f3n de fractura y el nivel m\u00e1ximo de
