Como primera consecuencia de su establecimiento, y de forma paralela a como ocurre en el resto del pais, surgiria la necesidad de formar una escuela de dibujo donde conducir el aprendizaje artistico segun los dictados de la academia de san fernando. Al mismo tiempo, es preciso repasar la situacion del coleccionismo en andalucia, sentando los fundamentos que caracterizan la actividad anticuaria en granada, preferida por el erudito antes que la acumulacion de obras de arte, por esa vieja aspiracion de posesion del pasado. Sin embargo, no podemos hablar de fomento y coleccionismo sin detenernos en analizar la nutrida nomina de individuos que se caracterizaron por su espiritu ilustrado.
