Nuestro objeto de estudio, pues es el abbey theatre en su calidad de emisor de un macro-acto de habla no siempre unificado y frecuentemente malinterpretado. La clave reside en la insercion de este fenomeno teatral en un marco apropiado que facilite su comprension: el modelo ampliado de la comunicacion de jakobson. A traves de este se puede entender la complejidad de un proceso interactivo entre autor y audiencia en un contexto historico y sociologico que da forma a la misma relacion existente entre publico e institucion teatral. El caso del abbey theatre ejemplifica el fracaso de la comunicacion dada entre dramaturgos y dublineses, representado concretamente por la incomprension del publico hacia la obra de j.M. Synge.  la idea es que el principio de cooperacion presente en todo acto humano no fue aceptado tal cual en este caso, o mejor, fue remodelado por la audiencia sin hacer participes del cambio a los autores; que algunos actos de habla parecen no cumplir todas las maximas de la conversacion; y que, en concreto, los emitidos por los personajes femeninos rompen con el estereotipo, decepcionando los horizontes de expectativas del publico, a la vez que colisionaban con sus modelos mentales (abiertamente en contradiccion).
