Las leguminosas pueden fijar el n atmosferico en simbiosis con bacterias de los generos rhizobium y bradyrhizobium. En este trabajo se abordan algunos aspectos del metabolismo carbonado de los nodulos radicales en la simbiosis vicia faba-rhizobium leguminosarum, en su desarrollo a lo largo de la ontogenia del cultivo, en relacion con las diferentes cepas del microsimbionte y el genotipo de la planta hospedadora, el efecto de una dosis alta de nitrato en el medio de cultivo comparandola con phaseolus vulgaris, leguminosa de origen tropical mucho mas sensible al nitrogeno combinado del medio. Como complemento de estos estudios, se aborda la purificacion parcial y caracterizacion de la fosfoenolpiruvato carboxilasa de los nodulos de vicia faba. Se discuten los resultados de crecimiento, actividad nitrogenasa, actividades sacarosa sintasa, invertasa alcalina, via de las pentosas fosfato, pepcarboxilasa, malato e isocitrato deshidrogenasas en
