Se han identificado tres grupos de macromol\u00e9culas: conocidas y caracterizadas como antig\u00e9nicas, conocidas y no caracterizadas como antig\u00e9nicas y una prote\u00edna desconocida, producto del gen hhesb.  se ha caractrizado el gen hhesb, que se expresa de manera ubicua en todos los tejidos humanos y cuyo mrna es de 2,8 kb. Est\u00e1 regulado por un promotor no convencional, con una zona de uni\u00f3n a sp1, pero que no posee cajas tata convencionales.El gen est\u00e1 localziado en el cromosoma 9 humano y posee pseudogenes maduros en los cromosomas 2,5,15,17 y 19. Buscando un modelo para posteriores estudios, se estudio el hom\u00f3logo del gen en la rata. El gen en la rata tiene un mrna del mismo tama\u00f1o que el humano y cuya expresi\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n es ubicua, la homolog\u00eda entre la secuencia de la prote\u00edna de rata y la humana es de 97%, por lo que es un buen modelo para estudios fisiol\u00f3gicos y patofisiol\u00f3gicos posteriores.  la prote\u00edna codificada por el gen hhesb es de 15,5 kb, es soluble y se localiza en la mitocondria.Tiene un dominio estructural denominado hesb que posee dos ciste\u00ednas conservadas que son necesarias para la funci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna,que est\u00e1 relacionada con la formaci\u00f3n de los complejos fe\/s.  se ha estudiado la funci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna mediante un modelo en levadura (s. Cerevisiae) complementando la funci\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna hom\u00f3loga mutada en esta especie con el gen heter\u00f3logo humano, aunque hay indicios suficientes de que ambas prote\u00ednas realizan la misma funci\u00f3n, no se observ\u00f3 complementaci\u00f3n funcional.  esta tesis es una aportaci\u00f3n al estudio de las muchas prote\u00ednas humanas de las que a\u00fan se desconoce
