En este espacio, se han descrito mas de medio millon de especies de organismos eucariotas. Los organismos marinos, debido a su escaso estudio, son una fuente prometedora de nuevos actinomicetos productores de nuevos compuestos con actividad antitumoral.  en esta tesis, se presenta el programa de aislamiento de un elevado numero de colonias de actinomicetos a partir de muestras de organismos marinos. Se analizan los resultados de aislamiento en este trabajo, asi como los procesos de seleccion de aquellas cepas mas interesantes desde el punto de vista taxonomico y que presentaron actividad antitumoral en sus caldos de cultivo.  tambien se presentan los estudios taxonomicos y de fermentacion de cuatro cepas, representativas cada una de un grupo de actinomicetos, seleccionadas de entre todas las aisladas. Se proponen dos nuevas especies nocardiopsis legionensis y micromonospora marina.
