A continuacion hemos establecido unas condiciones optimas de ensayo para la 4hfa3h a 40 grados c y ph 7,5. Tambien se han establecido los parametros cineticos para la enzima objeto de estudio, siendo la km (constante de michaelis) para los distintos substratos de 38um (4-hidroxifenilacetico), 41um (nadh) y 4,2um (fad ). Posteriormente hemos estudiado la especificidad de substrato de la 4hfa3h, observandose que la enzima presenta una baja especificidad de substrato, siendo capaz de reconocer numerosos analogos del acido 4-hidro-xifenilacetico (4hfa).  a continuacion se han realizado una serie de analisis \u00abin vivo\u00bb, mediante los que se ha visto que la 4hfa3h es una enzima inducible por el 4hfa y que no esta sometida a regulacion catabolica por glucosa.  finalmente se han aislado mutantes incapaces de utilizar el 4hfa y a partir de los mismos se ha aislado un gen represor de la degrad.
