La maxima velocidad de transporte se obtuvo a 30 grados c, en tampon fosfato 50 mm, ph 7. En estas condiciones el valor de la km fue 13 um y la vmax 2500 pmoles\/min. El sta es activo y depende de un estado energetizado de la membrana que se genera a traves de la cadena de transporte electronico. El sta esta modulado en funcion de la concentracion extracelular de afa, observandose que a medida que aumenta la concentracion de afa, en el medio aumenta la km. El sta se induce por afa y por fenilderivados con numero par de atomos de carbono en la cadena alifatica (acido 4-fenilbutirico, acido 6-fenilhexanoico y acido 8-feniloctanoico). Estos dos sistemas de transporte son el mismo, pero el inducido por los fenilalcanoatos de cadena par no esta modulado por la concentracion extracelular de afa. Cuando las celulas crecen utilizando afa o fenil alcanoatos de cadena par, se comprobo la presencia de fenilacetilcoa (facoa) intracelularmente, sugiriendo que esta molecula es el intermediario del catabolismo de afa y el inductor del sta. La ruta de degradacion del afa esta sometida a represion catabolica por glucosa. La glucosa en p. Putida se transforma en acido glucanico que se acumula extracelularmente antes de ser utilizados.
