Este desarrollo conlleva a la llegada hasta esta zona de las nuevas corrientes artisticas que afectan a castilla desde mediados de ese siglo. Es asi como en este reducido area de monta\u00f1a surge un importante foco pictorico mural que va a decorar las fablicas romanicas de transicion preexistentes, algunas de las cuales son reformadas y agrandadas. Dicho foco pictorico recoge la tradicion decorativa romanica mural del norte castellano, al tiempo que presenta un imortante nexo de union con la pintura que en estos momentos se esta realizando sobre tabla en los principales nucleos artisticos castellanos. El foco esta constituido por diez conjuntos pictoricos que tienen caracteristicas afines, pudiendose detectar entre ellos una evolucion que hemos fijado en tres secuencias. El estilo de las pinturas es plenamente gotico y de transicion entre el estilo internacional y el hispanoflamenco. Iconograficamente responden a la piedad de la epoca y a un afan de ordenacion de la vida y practicas religiosas durante el reinado de los reyes catolicos. Realizado un catalogo completo de cada uno de los conjuntos, en el que hemos tratado los diversos aspectos: formales, iconograficos, tecnicos, estilisticos y documentales de los diez conjuntos (valberzoso, san felices de castilleria, san cebrian de muda, barrio de santa maria, revilla de santullan, matamorisca, vallespinoso, la loma, mata de hoz y henestrosas), se ha llevado a cabo un estudio comparativo entre todos y cada uno de ellos. Un segundo estudio versa sobre la proyeccion de este taller en otras areas colindantes, ya fuera de la comarca campurriana, y que afecta a territorios de las actuales provincias de palencia, burgos y cantabria.
