Infantum, determinando variaciones morfologicas y su dependencia del medio de cultivo y numero de fase, expresion diferencial de proteinas y azucares, deteccion con lectinas marcadas, anticuerpos monoclonales, resistencia a los mecanismos leishmanidas del macrofago y poder infectante \u00abin vitro\u00bb e \u00abin vivo\u00bb.  durante la fase estacionaria se selecciono una subpoblacion infectante, con sobreexpresion de antigeno de bajo peso molecular y aumento de los niveles de galactosa. La induccion del estadio infectante se logro con la exposicion de los promastigotes a un metabolismo energetico anaerobico. Al emplear el modelo de infeccion \u00abin vitro\u00bb, se obtuvieron los mejores resultados con el mfmome y la amicarbalida. Los resultados obtenidos con un antimonial (glucantime) mostraron el superior valor del cribado en amastigotes. Al infectar cricetos con promastigotes, se confirmaron los hallazgos de las infecciones \u00abin vivo\u00bb.
