Esta degeneracion neuronal se acompa\u00f1a de alteraciones en la neurotransmision.  recientemente se ha sugerido la importancia de considerar la forma en que diferentes neurotransmisores se modulan entre si (interaccion de neurotransmisores) cuando se estudia las alteraciones de la neurotransmision durante el envejecimiento. El objetivo de este trabajo fue estudiar la interaccion entre dopamina, acido glutamico y gaba en el estriado y la corteza prefrontal de la rata a lo largo del envejecimiento. La administracion intracerebral de apomorfina, un agonista de la dopamina, produjo un aumento en las concentraciones extracelulares de acido glutamico y gaba en el estriado y la corteza prefrontal de la rata adulta joven.
