La organizacion genica del sistema mer de esta bacteria es en forma de operon. Los genes estructurales (mer t, mer p y mer a) se transcriben en un sentido a partir de un unico promotor; separados de ellos por una region operadora\/promotora se encuentra el gen regulador (merr) que se transcribe en sentido contrario y a partir de su propio promotor.  tanto la organizacion genetica como las caracteristicas estructurales del sistema mer de thiobacillus t.3.2 tienen un alto grado de semejanza con los sistemas mer descritos para otras bacterias gram (-). Thiobacillus t.3.2 presenta semejanzas con thiobacillus ferroxidans en cuanto a su metabolismo y fisiolog\u00eda, asi como en el hecho de que el operon mer esta localizado en el cromosoma, lo que no ocurre en ninguna otra bacteria gram (-). Sin embargo la estructura y la organizacion genica del operon entre estas dos bacterias acidofilas quimiolitrotofas es diferente.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
