Esta consiste en un proceso de desvolatilizacion en presencia de un agente quimico que actua orientando la descomposicion termica hacia reacciones que suponen una menor perdida de carbono. El resultado es un importante desarrollo de porosidad con rendimientos relativamente alto.  los objetivos concretos se han centrado en la preparacion de carbones activos, a escala laboratorio con la determinacion de rendimientos y el estudio de la estructura porosa asi como la recuperacion del agente activante y el analisis cinetico del proceso, ademas de la distribucion de productos resultantes
