Para ello se ha supuesto que este mecanismo es similar al de resonancia raman (rr). Debido a la ausencia de datos experimentales sobre los estados de transferencia de carga y de los aniones de los adsorbatos que se han estudiado se han hecho uso de los calculos ab initio para explicar el comportamiento experimental observado. Se ha comprobado que las bandas mas intensas corresponden a modos totalmente simetricos que conectan las estructuras de equilibrio del estado fundamental de la molecula neutra (s0) y del radical anion (d0), termino a; incremento de q distinto de 0. Los cambios entre las frecuencias de vibracion calculadas para los estados s0, d0 y d1 (incremento de nu distinto de 0) han permitido explicar la actividad del resto de fundamentales en los espectros sers mediante la diferente estructura electronica de los estados entre los que se produce el transito (termino a, incremento de nu distinto de 0) y mediante el mecanismo de acoplamiento vibronico
