En la parte teorica, se abordan las ideas fundamentales de la paz y de la violencia desde diferentes concepciones. Por otro lado, se propone como soporte del analisis de los dibujos el capitulo: la evolucion del lenguaje grafico del escolar.  el autor plantea dos modos de enfocar el estudio de los dibujos: 1. Perspectiva cuantitativa que tenga en cuenta la totalidad de los trabajos recogidos y, 2. Perspectiva cualitativa que implica una descodificacion minuciosa de un grupo de trabajos (178) seleccionados de entre todas las pruebas obtenidas.  como resultado de la investigacion, en la la perspectiva cuantitativa se obtienen 32 tematicas acerca de la paz y 34 acerca de la violencia. Para un analisis pormenorizado se tienen en cuenta las siete mas relevantes de cada tema. De la perspectiva cualitativa se extraen tres tematicas para su estudio.  el objetivo de la investigacion es conocer las ideas de los escolares acerca de la paz y de la violencia, enmarcandose el estudio en la perspectiva de la educacion para la paz.
