El analisis de diferentes especies, variedades e hibridos de citrus revela como altamente productivos en la flavanona hesperidina el cv. Valencia late de c. Sinensis y el hibrido tangelo nova. Para naringina el cv. Isaac y marsh de c. Paradisi y para neohesperidina, el cv. Bouquet-fleurs de c. Aurantium y el hibrido c. Paradisi x c. Depressa hayata. Los mayores niveles de hesperidina en los frutos de tangelo nova se detectan durante la fase juvenil del crecimiento, llegando a suponer el 40% del peso seco en frutos inmaduros y el 99 % del contenido total flavonico. Los fitorreguladores 6-bencilaminopurina y ac. 2,4- diclorofenoxiacetico producen incrementos en los procesos de sintesis y\/o transporte de hesperidina en dichos frutos, mientras que etileno produce una reduccion en la expresion de este compuesto fenolico. La actividad aia-oxidasa puede ser modulada por flavonoides siendo los flavonoles mas inhibidores que las flavonas y estas mas que las flavanonas. En tangelo nova se comprueba que la hesperidina puede actuar como inhibidor competitivo de la oxidacion del ac. Indolil-3-acetico (aia) por aia-oxidasa, sugiriendo su posible papel fisiologico en el crecimiento vegetal mediante su implicacion en el control homeostatico de la
