Dicha micosis est\u00e1 restringida a centro y sudam\u00e9rica. La infecci\u00f3n comienza con la inhalaci\u00f3n de los propagulos fungicos, los cuales buscan el epitelio alveolar pulmonar transform\u00e1ndose en levaduras, que es la forma pat\u00f3gena. Hasta ahora, excepto el polimorfismo gen\u00e9tico detectado por an\u00e1lisis de rapd y de rflp, no existen datos acerca del fenoma de este hongo. En esta tesis se presenta la secuencia de 51019 pb. El contenido total de at es de 53,64%.  hemos identificado 17 orfs (8 de ellos parciales) que ocupan el 46,32% de la secuencia completa, un valor menor que el 72% descrito para saccharomyces cerevisiae. 15 genes tienen genes hom\u00f3logos en levaduras u hongos, uno muestra homolog\u00eda con una prote\u00edna de funci\u00f3n desconocida de bacillus halodurans y otra prote\u00edna que muestra homolog\u00eda con una prote\u00edna acil coenzima a deshidrogenasa de pseudomonas aeruginosa.  se han encontrado intrones en 10 genes, las se\u00f1ales de procesamiento de dichos intrones sigen el consenso descrito para levaduras y hongos, desvi\u00e1ndose del consenso existente para levaduras. Por otra parte se ha aislado el gen ura3 de paracoccidionides braisliensis y se ha construido un cassette ura-blaster similar al descrito para el caso de candida albicans, con el fin de ser utilizado como herramientas para la transformaci\u00f3n de dicho hongo.
