Utilizando tecnicas que ponen de manifiesto cuerpos neuronales y neuropilos, hemos observado que el diencefalo de rana, como en el resto de los vertebrados, esta subdividido en tres segmentos diencefalicos (sinencefalo, parencefalo posterior y parencefalo anterior) perpendiculares a un eje longitudinal curvo.  asimismo hemos identificado subdivisiones mas peque\u00f1as dentro de cada segmento, algunas de las cuales son descritas por primera vez en este trabajo. Se discute su posible homolog\u00eda con las poblaciones de otros vertebrados. Como parte final de la tesis, hemos marcado la via visual, verificando la existencia de un neuropilo del nucleo geniculado dorsal, que previamente habiamos identificado de forma tentativa atendiendo a
