El gen, denominado care, se identifico a partir de una insercion de transposon que bloqueaba la sintesis de carotenoides. La presencia de un transposon en el locus care ha permitido su clonacion.  asi se ha podido determinar la secuencia de nucleotidos de care y deducir su secuencia de aminoacidos. La proteina care presenta gran parecido con una familia de peque\u00f1as proteinas de union a dna denominadas \u00abparecidas a histonas\u00bb. Los analisis realizados a los mutantes care revelan que el gen care interviene en la activacion por la luz de genes carotenogenicos y en otros procesos como el crecimiento o la motilidad celular.  finalmente, la proteina care se expreso en escherichia coli y se purifico, pudiendose comprobar asi su capacidad de union a dna de los promotores regulados por care.  nuestros datos indican que las dos mutaciones care conocidas no anulan por completo la funcion del gen, ya que el gen care parece intervenir en procesos esenciales para la viabilidad de las celulas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
