Aplicando el metodo historico descriptivo se indagan las razones de la difusion y del uso de aquel en las escuelas primarias, a partir de los filtros oficiales puestos en marcha por el franquismo. El libro de texto escolar tiene una dimension comercial pero tambien es un util recurso para la ense\u00f1anza y, por ello, durante el tiempo historico se\u00f1alado, es objeto de una regulacion oficial estricta que afecta tanto a lo comercial como a lo escolar. De ahi que se describa y analice exhaustivamente la legislacion promulgada durante el franquismo. De ella se extraen los principios directores de la politica educativa desarrollada respecto al libro de texto escolar. El estudio tiene un doble objetivo: conocer la actitud tomada respecto a los libros de texto utilizados en la ense\u00f1anza primaria e incrementar la infraestructura documental para futuras investigaciones y, en este sentido, aporta, junto a las reflexiones teoricas, una recopilacion ordenada no solo de la legislacion sino tambien de listas alfabetizadas de los libros no aprobados
