Su futura aplicacion practica estaria en el dise\u00f1o de nuevas instalaciones de desague de explotaciones subterraneas, o en la automatizacion de las instalaciones existentes.  ademas podria utilizarse para optimizar la planificacion horaria del desague aprovechando al maximo las bonificaciones horarias en el precio de la energia. Por otro lado, podria aplicarse en la prediccion de avenidas de agua causadas por intensas precipitaciones o deshielo.  por ultimo, y con menos precision, serviria para estimar la influencia en el desague de la apertura de nuevas plantas.  este trabajo se basa en un modelo matematico de tanques interconectados, utilizado ampliamente para simular el comportamiento de los acuiferos carsticos. Debido a la intensa explotacion del carbonifero, la zona afectada por las labores mineras puede ser considerada como un autentico acuifero de tipo carstico. De este modelo se obtiene una funcion de transferencia que permite generar una serie de caudales desaguados a partir de las correspondientes series de precipitaciones y caudales del rio (esta ultima con caracter opcional). La principal dificultad estriba en la calibracion del modelo comparando la serie real de caudales con la serie generada. El sistema experto busca los parametros de la funcion de transferencia que optimizan el resultado, minimizando el error relativo obtenido en la generacion de la serie de caudales.
