No se detecto ninguna homolog\u00eda con otros peptidos en las bases de datos. Su forma activa es un homodimero, cuyos monomeros carecen de actividad inhibitoria. El estudio de su modo de accion ha revelado que no se trata de un peptido permeabilizador de membranas. Su blanco de actuacion esta relacionado con la sintesis de pared y, en concreto, inhibe la formacion de septos de division en las celulas sensibles. El determinante genetico de la lactococina 972 se encuentra en un plasmido de 11 kpb (pbl1). La secuencia del gen estructural ha revelado que esta bacteriocina se sintetiza como una prebacteriocina con un peptido se\u00f1al tipico. Este gen presenta un promotor funcional y se encuentra acompa\u00f1ado de otros, probablemente implicandose la inmunidad y\/o regulacion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
