El fragmento que permanece anclado a membrana esta fosforilado en tirosina. Este procesamiento esta altamente regulado y es activable por distintas vias, siendo la via de transduccion de se\u00f1ales de la pkd la mas universal. La proteasa encargada del procesamiento de trka es del tipo metaloproteasa, esta fuertemente anclada a la membrana plasmatica y solo es totalmente activa cuando se encuentra en esta. Tampoco tiene actividad si se encuentra soluble o solubilizada en el medio de cultivo.  el mecanismo de corte de trka es diferente segun sea el tejido, organo, especie o tipo celular que se utilice como modelo de estudio. El procesamiento de trka inhibe e interrumpe la se\u00f1alizacion del holorreceptor en respuesta a ngf. El receptor de baja afinidad por neurotrofinas, p75lntr tambien sufre procesamiento proteolitico regulado liberando su ectodominio, pero solo cuando la expresion de este receptor en la membrana
