Es posible utilizar las moleculas de acidos ribonucleicos estables de bajo peso molecular (lmw rna) en la diferenciacion de estas especies mediante la separacion de estas moleculas utilizando una tecnica electroforetica progresiva.  se han aislado mas de 500 cepas, de las cuales se han seleccionado 200, del genero rhizobium realizando con ellas un estudio de utilizacion de fuentes de carbono y de produccion de enzimas, concluyendo que es posible establecer diferencias entre las especies que incluyen a las cepas seleccionadas.
