Con este objetivo es estudiaron midante tecnica moleculares y de inmunohistoquimica los genes p53, mn23 h1, bel 2, p10 y del gen receptor estrogenico en pacientes con carcinoma de mama.  en relacion al gen p53 encontramos que el espectro mutacional del gen encontrado en nuestra poblacion sugiere que los mutagenos exogenos son mas importantes que los procesos mutacionales endogenos para el desarrollo tumoral y que en cancer de mama, la perdida de un alelo, por delecion o mutacion, parece ser suficiente para el desarrollo del fenotipo transformado.  el analisis de la expresion del gen nm23-h1 podria ser util para predecir la existencia de afectacion ganglionar.  los niveles de expresion de la proteina bcl-2 no se asocia con alteraciones del gen ni el estado de metilacion del mismo, por lo que deben existir otros mecanismos moleculares, no conocidos hasta el momento, responsables de la desregulacion de este gen en el cancer de mama.  a diferencia de lo observado en lineas celulares, la organizacion del gen p16 no se encuentra alterada en tumores de pacientes diagnosticados de cancer de mama.  la metilacion del gen del receptor de estrogenos es responsable, al menos
