Previamente se habia demostrado que nfh12 formaba parte de una banda de antigeno completo de fasciola hepatica que cruzaban con s. Bovis y s. Mansoni. Los resultados revelan que las protecciones contra la infeccion con s. Bovis en ratones c57 conferidas por nfh12 y rfh15 han sido del 92 y 72% respectivamente en terminos de reduccion del numero de vermes. La infeccion con s. Bovis parece inducir en ratones respuestas predominantemente tipo th2, mientras que la vacunacion con moleculas heterologas de fasciola hepatica (nfh12 y rfh15) aparenta activar la via th1. La proteccion contra la infeccion por f. Hepatica en conejos con la proteina nfh12 alcanzo tasas del 40% en terminos de reduccion de numero de vermes cuando el intervalo inmunizacion\/infeccion era de 4 semanas. Conejos inmunizados con ambas moleculas (nfh12 y rfh15) posteriormente infectados con f.
