La posibilidad de emplear las gotas de sangre desecada para dichos programas, es un enfoque atractivo, que adolece de un numero excesivo de falsos positivos. Por ello, nos planteamos aprovechar las modernas tecnicas de biolog\u00eda molecular y concretamente la pcr (reaccion en cadena de la polimerasa) para desarrollar un screening de la deficiencia basado en 2 tests, uno de ellos muy sensible (inmunoelectrodifusion) y el otro muy especifico (diagnostico genetico), que aprovechara las mismas gotas de sangre desecada, posibilitando la universalidad y accesibilidad de metodo de screening de la deficiencia.  fuimos capaces de desarrollar una tecnica adecuada de extraccion del adn a partir de sangre desecada, y para el estudio de las mutaciones puntuales del gen de la alfa-1 antitripsina responsables de su deficiencia, comparamos los 3 metodos de amplificacion (pcr-aso, arms, mutagenesis) del gen, empleados hasta ahora, optimizando cada procedimiento, y analizando su aplicabilidad a grandes poblaciones.
