Mientras que en humanos estan perfectamente definidos los criterios histopatologicos diferenciales entre las distintas entidades patologicas de las celulas c, no ocurre asi en los restantes animales experimentales. Por ello, el objetivo del presente trabajo ha sido sentar dichos criterios en una serie de lesiones presentadas por un amplio grupo de ratas wistar de ambos sexos y de diferentes edades mediante la utilizacion de tecnicas histologicas convencionales, morfometricas e inmunohistoquimicas.  se hallaron distintos \u00abpatrones de celulas c\u00bb a los que se designaron como patron normal, hiperplasia difusa leve, hiperplasia difusa severa, hiperplasia nodular, adenoma de celulas c y carnoma medular de tiroides. Para ello se tuvo en cuenta el porcentaje de celulas c, si la tincion era o no homogenea, la atipia celular y\/o nuclear, la extension de la lesion, la frecuencia de mitosis y, finalmente, la presencia o no de invasion estromal y\/o vascular.  como conclusion final, se hallo que la frecuencia de alteraciones de las celulas c se incremento claramente con la edad. Tambien se demostro una relacion entre la incidencia de trastornos de celulas c y el sexo de los animales, pues esta fue claramente superior en el grupo de las hembras en comparacion con el de los
