Carmen <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Con este estudio se ha realizado la puesta a punto de un nuevo metodo espectrofotometrico de determinacion del efecto postantibiotico (epa), asi como la validacion de dicho metodo por comparacion con el metodo clasico de recuentos viables en agar, utilizando un aminoglucosido (gentamicina), tres antibioticos b-lactamicos (pipericilina, ceftriaxona e imipenem) y una y una quinolona (ciprofloxacino) sobre las cepas patrones:  escherichia coli atcc 25922, pseudomonas aeruginosa atcc 27853 y staphylococcus aureus atcc 29213 y sobre los aislados clinicos de hemocultivos (e.Coli 304; e. Coli 347; p. Aeruginosa 251; p. Aeruginosa 276; s. Aureus 356; s. Aureus 360) a concentraciones iguales a la concentracion minima inhibitoria (cmi); suprainhibitorias (2x y 4x cmi) y subinhibitorias (       ), estudiadas solamente en gentamicina y ciprofloxacino sobre los aislados clinicos de hemocultivos.  se puso de manifiesto la existencia de epa en las tres cepas patrones cuando se enfrentaron durante una hora a gentamicina a las concentraciones estudiadas.  ciprofloxacino tuvo epa sobre las cepas patrones de p.  areuginosa y s. Aureus. A excepcion de la union imipenem ninguna de las restantes combinaciones entre antibioticos b lactamicos y cepas controles reporto epa (considerando que no existe epa cuando su duracion es menor de 30 minutos).  el comportamiento de gentamicina, ciprofloxacino, ceftriaxona e imipenem frente a los seis aislados clinicos ensayados, fue similar al observado en las cepas patrones, aunque se evidencio caracteristicas particulares diferenciadoras en las uniones de imipenem con e. Coli 347 y gentamicina y ciprofloxacino con p.  aeruginosa 251 y 276.  en estos casos en los que se evidencio la existencia de epa, la duracion de este iba paralela a la concentracion de antimicrobiano a\u00f1adida al cultivo bacteriano.
