Asi mismo se valora la posible influencia de factores tanto biologicos (edad, sexo e imc) como ambientales (alcohol y tabaco) sobre dicho indice.  finalmente se realiza un estudio en sujetos diabeticos, para estudiar la aplicacion de la tecnica en las alteraciones vegetativas, concretamente de la fraccion parasimpatica, comparando los resultados obtenidos en el grupo de enfermos diabeticos con los del grupo de sanos.  concluimos que este indice es un valor que no se ve influenciado por factores biologicos o ambientales en sujetos sanos.  en sujetos diabeticos este indice durante la maniobra de hiperventilacion se altera a partir del primer a\u00f1o de evolucion de la diabetes y es mas precoz que las alteraciones de las conducciones motoras y sensitivas.  ademas, este indice tambien aparece alterado en aquellos sujetos diabeticos que refieren sintomas vegetativos, a pesar de que no presenten signos alterados en la exploracion fisica ni en el estudio de conducciones
