La tesis presenta un estudio exhaustivo de los requisitos de fiabilidad de las comunicaciones en los its asi como un analisis detallado de los sistemas de enlace ppp que constituyen una parte importante en la arquitectura de los mismos.  la tesis propiamente dicha consiste en el desarrollo de algoritmos para tolerancia a fallos basandose en el protocolo ppp de internet gestionando la redundancia con el protocolo mlppp. Hay diversas propuestas que implementan la metodolog\u00eda general que se ha presentado anteriormente en los primeros capitulos de la tesis.  hay, finalmente, el estudio de un caso de un sistema its relacionado con el control lineal de la velocidad en el que se observa el desarrollo de una arquitectura tolerante a fallos compatible con la actual arquitectura
