En este trabajo se ha tratado de explicar por que la bsa puede adquirir actividad proinflamatoria. Se ha estudiado el efecto de bsas obtenidas por diferentes procedimientos y bsas modificadas en la adhesion de leucocitos. Bsas obtenidas por choque termico expresan actividad proinflamatoria mientras que las obtenidas por precipitacion con alcohol no. No existe correlacion entre el contenido de dimeros, polimeros, grupos -sh libres, acidos grasos, fructosamina, derivados age, intensidad de fluorescencia de la bsa y de los complejos ans-bsa y la actividad proinflamatoria. Los intercambios de puentes disulfuro intramoleculares de la bsa inducen cambios conformacionales que le confieren actividad proinflamatoria. Los receptores icam-1 intervienen en la adhesion de leucocitos.
