La sobreexpresion de hal1 da lugar a un doble efecto, sobre el contenido de sodio y litio por un lado y sobre el de potasio por otro en celulas tratadas con sal. El primer efecto es mediado por la na+-atpasa codificada por ena1, cuya expresion transcripcional es dependiente de la dosis genica de hal1. No se han hallado genes homologos a hal1 en plantas, si bien la expresion heterologa del gen en algunas plantas, realizada por el grupo de vicente moreno y luis roig de cultivos celulares, da lugar a un ligero incremento de tolerancia. Finalmente se han obtenido y caracterizado parcialmente nuevos genes hal que ofrecen tolerancia a sal en levadura mediante sobreexpresion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
