Se presenta el estudio cinetico del enzima sepiapterina reductasa asi como su analisis en cepas mutantes de color de ojos. Ninguna de estas resulto portadora de un defecto en el gen estructural de este enzima. Asimismo se presenta la caracterizacion molecular del gen del enzima fenilalanina hidroxilasa. Los resultados obtenidos indican que dicho gen es objeto de una expresion diferencial observandose la produccion de tres transcritos alternativos que codifican para potenciales isoformas proteicas. Se demuestra que el locus henna es el gen estructural de dicho enzima, demostracion que sugiere la concurrencia de tres funciones fisiologicas en este locus: fenilalanina y triptogano hidroxilasa, y tetrahidropterina oxidasa. El analisis molecular en la cepa henna- recessive 3 demuestra la presencia del transposon b104 en el gen de la fenilanina hidroxilasa, insercion que provoca la produccion de transcritos aberrantes que contienen parte de la secuencia del elemento.
