Su pared celular es una de las principales diferencias que presenta respecto a las celulas humanas por lo que es una diana en principio interesante para el dise\u00f1o de nuevos antifungicos.  la clonacion de genes que codifican proteinas situadas a nivel de esta estructura celular es el objetivo de este trabajo, para lo cual se llevo a cabo un rastreo de genotecas de expresion con anticuerpos policlonales obtenidos frente a paredes purificadas del microorganismo. Estos estudios han permitido el aislamiento de dos genes pra1 y csp37 cuyos productos se encuentran en la superficie celular de c. Albicans, y de otros como el gen que codifica enolasa, enzima glicolitica que tambien puede aparecer en el exterior celular bajo determinadas circunstancias.  csp37 codifica una proteina no caracterizada en ninguna otra especie, ausente en saccharomyces cerevisiae y con un posible papel fisiologico en la virulencia del microorganismo.
