Cuando la reaccion se realiza con borohidruro sodico, se obtienen aductos quirales de amino-borano, que se han ensayado en reducciones e hidroboraciones enantioselectivas. Las sales se abren facilmente por reaccion con cianuro sodico, conduciendo con buenos rendimientos y excelentes excesos diastereomericos a cianoeteres, que en un tratamiento posterior originan hidroxiacidos enantiomericamente puros. Esta reaccion es una alternativa a los metodos existentes en la bibliografia de sintesis asimetrica de este tipo de compuestos carboxilicos. El tratamiento con hidruro sodico de las sales de oxazolidinio, con un resto alilico en el nitrogeno, proporciona de manera diastereoselectiva morfolinas quirales de acuerdo con una transposicion
