Esta tecnica quirurgica se aplica en la clinica humana como solucion de diversas patolog\u00edas, resultando ser la enfermedad de crohn y la isquemia intestinal las mas frecuentes. Como consecuencia de esta exeresis se produce un estado de malabsorcion y perdida de nutrientes y electrolitos que en algunos casos lleva al paciente al obito. El enfoque se ha centrado en la fisiopatolog\u00eda del problema, asi como en los estudios al microscopio del remanente intestinal. Respecto a estos ultimos, se ha observado en todos los grupos experimentales una hipertrofia marcada del segmento yeyunal frente al segmento ileal. Tambien se ha observado un acumulo linfoplasmocitario y de celulas inflamatorias en estadios precoces, que ha ido desapareciendo con la evolucion del cuadro. En los estudios de absorcion realizados se ha puesto de manifiesto una disminucion precoz de la absorcion de agua, glucosa, cloro, sodio y potasio, que posteriormente se ha normalizado para terminar en un estado de hiperabsorcion. La absorcion de calcio se ha incrementado en los periodos de estudio mas tardios.  como principal conclusion de este estudio se obtiene que en los estadios mas precoces existe una actividad funcional disminuida en la absorcion de electrolitos, que acaba compensandose con el tiempo.
