Se parte de una exposicion del principio de huygens, en el que se basa directamente el metodo, y de una revision de la teoria de lineas de transmision en el dominio del tiempo. Se presentan de forma exhaustiva las bases del metodo tlm-2d y 3d clasico, con la descripcion de los distintos nodos y sus correspondientes caracteristicas numericas. Se realiza una revision de las propiedades fisicas y estructurales de los medios anisotropos describiendo las particularidades de la propagacion de las ondas electromagneticas en los mismos. Una primera aproximacion al modelado tlm de la anisotropia esta centrada en el problema de propagacion transversal tem en un medio no reciproco, mediante un algoritmo tlm-1d sencillo. Se presenta una extension del metodo tlm-2d para medios anisotropos caracterizados por una permitividad tensorial general, mediante tres tecnicas bien diferenciadas, incluyendo el tratamiento de interfases, y un modelo tlm-3d basado en el nodo hscn para tensores no diagonales, con el tratamiento de interfases y de contornos absorbentes. En todos los casos, se han realizado experimentos numericos que permiten la validacion de las diferentes tecnicas propuestas, por ejemplo, la simulacion de frentes de onda en la propagacion
