Antonia <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Se ha investigado el metabolismo cerebral de (1,2-13cs) acetato o (1- 13c) glucosa en animales eugluc\u00e9micos y diab\u00e9ticos con \u00e9nfasis especial en el an\u00e1lisis de los efectos de la diabetes sobre la energ\u00e9tica de las c\u00e9lulas gliales y sobre el acoplamiento metab\u00f3lico neurona-gl\u00eda a trav\u00e9s del ciclo glutamato-glutamina-gaba. Se han empleado dos grupos de ratas macho sprague-dawley; eugluc\u00e9micas y diab\u00e9ticas por administraci\u00f3n de estreptoxotozina (i.P. 80 mg.Kg-1). Ambos grupos recibieron infusiones intravenosas de (1,2- 13c2) acetato (24 umol.Min-1. 100g-1) o (1- 13c)glucosa (8 umol.Min. 100g-1) en presencia y ausencia de diversos inhibidores selectivos del metabolismo glial como la metionina sulfoximina (mso, 150 mg.Kg-1), que inhibe la glutamina sintetasa o el \u00e1cido trifluoroac\u00e9tico (tfa, 24 umol.Min-1. 100g-1), que inhibe la aconitasa del ciclo tricarbox\u00edlico glial. Una vez concluida la infusi\u00f3n de los sustratos marcados con 13c, se detuvo el metabolismo cerebral por congelaci\u00f3n y se prepararon extractos para determinar la incorporaci\u00f3n de 13c en carbonos individuales de glutamato, glutamina y gaba mediante espectroscop\u00eda de resonancia magn\u00e9tica nuclear de 13c. En las infusiones de (1,2- 13c2) acetato, el estado diab\u00e9tico aument\u00f3 la incorporaci\u00f3n de 13c en glutamato c4 y glutamina c4 y la disminuy\u00f3 en gaba c2, indicando un aumento del flujo metab\u00f3lico a trav\u00e9s de ciclo glutamato-glutamina y un descenso del flujo a trav\u00e9s del \u00abshunt\u00bb de gaba.
