En la primera parte se desarrolla la teoria de semiotica teatral, sobre la base de que el teatro, el hecho teatral, es un proceso de comunicacion en el que existen dos fases: la textual y la espectacular, una vez delimitados y definidos los elementos linguisticos y no linguisticos que operan en el hecho teatral (considerados los primeros como configuradores de: dialogo, accion, personajes y acotaciones, y los segundos como elementos-signo agrupables en diversos codigos no verbales), y una vez examinados los componentes humanos que tambien intervienen en el proceso teatral, se propone un modelo de analisis semiotico teatral, en la insercion de elementos y componentes dentro del esquema morrisiano:  sintactica, semantica y pragmatica (con espacio y tiempo incluidos).
