Las celulas sensoras son las celulas glomicas o tipo i. El interes de este trabajo de tesis doctoral se centra en los mecanismos celulares involucrados en el proceso de transduccion para el estimulo hipoxico. Con el fin de estudiar este proceso se ha desarrollado una preparacion de celulas glomicas disociadas que mantiene las propiedades funcionales caracteristicas de la preparacion de organo entero \u00abin vitro\u00bb. Ademas se ha puesto a punto un equipo de patch-clamp que permite estudiar las caracteristicas electrofisiologicas de las celulas glomicas, asi como los fenomenos electricos involucrados en el proceso de transduccion. Utilizando esta aproximacion experimental se han caracterizado las corrientes de potasio transitorias de las celulas glomicas ya que estas corrientes se inhiben de forma selectiva y reversible por la hipoxia. Se ha estudiado ademas el curso temporal de esta inhibicion, asi como la participacion de una hemoproteina en el proceso de transduccion. Puesto que se conocia que la hipoxia activa la adenilato-ciclasa, se ha estudiado finalmente el papel modulador de ampc sobre las corrientes de calcio y potasio de las celulas glomicas, encontrandose
