Este efecto inhibidor depende de la concentracion de iones magnesio en la mezcla de reaccion.  la ingestion cronica de isopropanol o n-butanol, altera la dependencia de la sintesis de proteinas in vitro de la concentracion de iones magnesio, y esta ingestion provoca que la sintesis de proteinas en cerebro, se muestre totalmente irreversible al efecto agudo de etanol e isopropanol. Asimismo provoca un fenomeno de adaptacion de la sintesis de proteinas, tanto de proteinas totales como de secreccion, en hepatocitos aislados de rata que conlleva un incremento de la resistencia de este proceso a los efectos agudos de peque\u00f1as concentraciones de etanol e isopropanol.  el acido fusidico inhibe la sintesis de proteinas en sistemas acelulares vegetales, de mamifero y en hepatocitos aislados de rata. Asimismo inhibe la gluconeogenesis basal en hepatocitos aislados de rata, y provoca cambios en los patrones de fosforilacion de diversos sistemas de sintesis de
