Esta acetilasa tiene una actividad variable frente a gentamicina, tobramicina y otros aminoglicosidos en dependencia de las especies, biovariedades y subespecies del complejo m. Fortuitum-chelonae que se traten, expresion de las diferencias en los respectivos genes aacc. Mediante la realizacion de pruebas de sensibilidad, por las tecnicas de difusion y dilucion en agar, observamos como la actividad 3-n-acetilante no esta relacionada con la resistencia a los aminoglicosidos debiendo poseer alguna funcion metabolica hasta ahora desconocida; y como los patrones de resistencia a gentamicina y tobramicina ofrecen caracter diferencial a nivel de biovariedad y subespecie estando relacionado con genes responsables de la permeabilidad selectiva. Los genes aacc micobacterianos estan localizados en el cromosoma y parecen ser autoctonos de m.
